The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a trade-finance-focused development bank established in Abuja in October 1993 by African governments, African private and institutional investors, and non-African investors as multilateral trade development institution to finance and promote intra-African and extra-African trade. It operates under the twin constitutive instruments of an Agreement, signed by its member states and multilateral organizations, which confers on it the status of an international organization, and a Charter, signed by all shareholders, which governs its corporate structure and operations.
