IFC InfraVentures invests $150m in Mpatamanga hydro
IFC InfraVentures is investing $150 million in the Mpatamanga hydroelectric project in southern Malawi, having signed a a joint development agreement with the Malawi government in April.
The dam will be built on the Shire River in Blantyre District, downstream of the Nkhula A HPP & Nkhula B hydroelectric dam (100MW), the Tedzani hydroelectric dam (110.7MW) and upstream of the Kapichira hydroelectric dam (128MW).
The project is also being supported by Oslo-based SN Power, Power Africa and the IFC.
