Engie wins 29MW Spanish biomass project

Engie has been awarded a 25-year government contract to set up and operate a 29MW biomass heating plant in Pamplona, Spain. The first 14.5MW phase of the plant will be operational in 2020 and will rely on forest biomass for 90% of its feedstock. Natural gas will account for the remaining 10%. Local government body for housing and urban development, Navarra de Suelo y Vivienda (Nasuvinsa) will contribute €6.5 million to the project with the help of an EU grant for the Navarra region, while Engie will provide the remaining €6 million.
