The North American Development Bank (NADB), Banco Santander, Banco Mercantil del Norte (Banorte) have signed a loan agreement - backed by Denmark's EKF - for the design, construction and operation of the 117MW Delaro wind farm in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The NADB will provide $32 million.

The project includes installation of about 27 wind turbines and construction of a substation to collect the energy. The electricity generated will be purchased by a group of commercial and industrial consumers pursuant to several long-term power purchase agreements. The project is sponsored by Fideicomiso Thermion Energy CKD I.

Once in operation, the wind park is expected to generate 475 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 64,634 households. As a result, it is expected to displace an estimated 250,325 metric tons/year of carbon dioxide, among other pollutants.
