AFD releases more funds for Burkina Faso's Yeleen solar project

The Agence Francaise de Developpement has signed financing agreements worth €13.7 million with the government of Burkina Faso, with the funds earmarked for the energy and education sectors.

Of the total, €5.4 million will be used to finance the country's Yeleen Project which aims to build four solar power plants. The plants, connected to the grid of the National Electricity Company of Burkina Faso (SONABEL) will be built near Ouagadougou (42MWp), Dori (6MWp), Diapaga (2MWp), and Gaoua (1MWp).

AFD already released XOF49 billion (€75 million) in 2020 for the Yeleen project, which is also supported by the African Development Bank.
