JICA funds construction of schools in Burkina Faso

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has struck a deal with UNICEF to provide JPY1.35 billion (about $12.5 million) for the Construction of Lower-Secondary Schools in the Centre and Centre-Sud Regions of Burkina Faso.

Through this project, 18 lower-secondary schools and 104 classrooms will be constructed in an area where the number of schools is small compared to the population, and 5,200 new students will be able to attend lower-secondary schools.  

The project, which is scheduled to take 19 months to complete, will contribute to Sustainable Development Goals 4.
