The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is executing a $600,000 non-reimbursable technical cooperation grant to carry out feasibility studies for the modernization and expansion of the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage systems in Liberia, Guanacaste province, Costa Rica.

The grant was recently approved by South Korea within the CABEI-Korea Single Donor Trust Fund framework. It is estimated that the beneficiary population is more than 84,000 people, since this cooperation will identify the current challenges in the water and sanitation sector in the area, measure the demand for water and sanitation services in the intervention area, and propose new infrastructure and solutions to be developed to ensure the optimal use of these services for the benefit of the local population.

The execution of the technical cooperation is expected to start during the second quarter of 2021.
