Asticom Kenya WtE project receives funding for impact studies

The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), funded by the Danish, UK, US and Italian governments and managed by African Development Bank, has awarded a $1 million grant to the Asticom Kenya solid waste-to-energy project to fund environmental and social impact assessments and legal and financial advisory services. The Climate Technology Initiative has also committed $12.7 million to the project that will convert solid waste from Nairobi's Kibera slum into biogas and fuel ethanol to produce 10MW of power and purify sewerage into clean water.
