World Bank finances Kenyan dam desilting project

The World Bank has agreed a KES600 million loan to Kenya's Uasin Gishu County in a project that will see the desilting of all dams in a bid to boost food production and water supply.

More than 300 dams have already been earmarked for the process in its plan aimed at boosting horticulture.

There were also said plans to install solar pumps to assist in upstream water uptake.
